"We are enthusiastic and pleased to be able to offer this service to our customers," explained Vance Lewis, CE Cable & Wireless, British Virgin Islands. "We know that many of our customers have family and friends abroad, with whom they want to keep in touch - but that the cost of calling can be a barrier to communication. NetSpeak uses emerging technology to help people keep in touch, for less money."
Unique & Exclusive Component
Continuing, Mr. Lewis said "For this reason, we have included a unique and exclusive component of our service that provides for calls to the USVI and Puerto Rico that no other company offers."
With today's launch, any customer of Cable & Wireless high-speed Internet service can subscribe to calling plans of their choice which include unlimited calling for as little as $39.95 per month.
To familiarize customers with the ease and quality of NetSpeak, Cable & Wireless received overwhelming responses to NetSpeak when the company provided free NetSpeak calls, lasting up to three minutes, during the BVI Music Fest.
Explosion in VoIP Growth
VoIP technology has taken the world by storm in North America and Europe. In fact, international technology consulting firm Frost & Sullivan estimates that Internet telephony will account for approximately 75% of world voice services by 2007 (Frost & Sullivan, 3/2002.)
Cable & Wireless is proud to offer a VoIP product that is robust when compared to global standards. NetSpeak offers features that are unrivalled in the Caribbean:
Said Lewis, "NetSpeak has been popular with audiences in the Cayman Islands, Barbados, Jamaica and elsewhere in the Eastern Caribbean, where it launched in recent months. We look forward to replicating our success in our markets to enable our customers in British Virgin Islands to have the latest communication innovations"
Lewis further explained, "It is obviously exciting for us to be able to offer dramatically less expensive voice calling to our customers. But today is also important because it signals that penetration of internet services in the BVI and the Caribbean is significant enough to support this next evolution of service for our high speed Internet customers. This is encouraging news for Cable & Wireless as we work to help Caribbean people to cross the digital divide.
As high-speed Internet penetration increases in the Caribbean, Cable & Wireless is working to provide cutting-edge such as Internet voice calling to support the continually evolving communication requirements of the region.
